Australian, prehistoric, and flightless. Probably ate horses.

The bullockornis planei, or ‘Demon duck of doom’ was one enormous bird with an immensely powerful and sharp bill. It belongs to a family of now extinct flightless birds.

The Demon duck stood around 2.5 metres (8 feet) tall and weighed around 300 kilograms (660 pounds). Not a bird you want to make angry!

Believed to have lived in the Northern Territory of Australia, these birds may have first appeared around 26 million years ago and lived happily until their extinction around 50,000 years ago.
