The Jumping Flea

$45.00

Did you know a flea can jump 80 times its own height?

In fact, if a flea were the size of a human, it could jump as high as the Eiffel tower. The illustration here is to scale, so the pencil is actually 80 times taller than the tiny flea on the podium: Yes, the black dot.

Jumping great heights allows a flea to propel itself onto its chosen host (a mammal or bird). And fleas can’t fly, although jumping so high is almost as good as flying.

Perhaps this is why people imagine they have magic circuses just for fleas.

Ingredients: Pencil, wooden ladder, podium, and a flea.
